PROFESSOR BEACH GOT FAT!

November 4th, 2011

Okay, so maybe it was one too many Strawberry Daiquiris on the beach at sunset… or maybe just way too many
Cheeseburgers in Paradise.  No excuses, Professor beach got FAT! 225 lbs FAT.  After years of exploring and enjoying beaches around the world it just wasn't fun anymore. No more fun because when I got to the beach I was ashamed to take off my shirt. Ever feel that way?

My last beach exploring trip to Florida really did it. I just sat in a beach chair under an umbrella. Didn't even want to swim or walk on the beach because I was just too uncomfortable in my skin. Just too much of me “in my skin”. Fast forward two months and I'm down to 205 lbs and on my way to a fit and healthy lifestyle. Join me on my pursuit of health and once again walking the beach with my shirt off.   Watch my progress and see how I did it here.

Beautiful St. Lucia is surfing a wave of luxury-resort development

Caribbean Comer

ForbesLife Magazine dated November 02, 2009

St. Lucia is not the easiest sell. It’s closer to Venezuela than Florida and about five hours from New York City on a nonstop; eight or more with a change of planes. Once there you learn that the island’s infrastructure is rough: The main north-south roads are mostly narrow two-laners. And then there’s this: “People going to the Caribbean expect to be on the beach, and in St. Lucia you’re not,” notes Andy Pesky, senior vice president of the retail-travel company Protravel International. Indeed, the island’s two most dramatic resorts, Ladera and Jade Mountain, are perched on steep mountainsides. The former has no beach of its own, and the one belonging to the latter is never going to make a World’s Best list (or even a World’s Second Best list). The draw at both is plenty of privacy, the hotel room as aerie, and a gorgeous view of the island’s iconic symbol, the Pitons, twin pointy peaks off the southwest coast that have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.

Facts about Castries:
One of the major tourist areas in St. Lucia, Castries is a port of call for cruise ships. Cruise ships dock at Pointe Seraphine, to the north of the harbour which is also a duty free shopping centre. A taxi service is readily available to take you on tours of the rest of the country or the city. There is also a water taxi available to take you from there to the city as well.

The greatest concentration of hotels, resorts, and restaurants are near Castries and the island’s other main towns, Gros Islet, Soufrière, and Rodney Bay.

The city maintains three tourist offices, and one in the airport. There are also many duty free shops within the town itself and several restaurants.

One of the major draws for tourists to St. Lucia is its beaches, and there are several in or very near Castries. Vigie Beach, Malabar Beach, Choc Beach, and La Toc Beach are all within easy reach.
